This guide has been produced to provide instructions to color layers using contour lines or gradients for mine designs and topographies.
The tool can be found in the layers panel under Haul Infinity - Network - Layers. There are 2 examples, color by contour gradient and contour lines.
Example 1 - Contour Gradient with Pits
- Select the Color Icon by the layer you wish to apply the contour upon.
- A new window will appear and choose Contour & Grade to access the menus
- Under Grade, Enable Grade Shadings by checking the box and creating a color code for low, moderate, and steep grade.
In Figure 1, you can see steep walls in red and flat berms in blue. The low, moderate, and steep grade are set to 7%, 13%, and 20% respectively. We can observe that for most of our ramp, it is between zero and seven degrees. Sections marked in yellow near the corners indicate a gradient above 13%. Therefore, there may be potential issues for trucks navigating around corners and will need to be addressed. Contouring and the shading can help identify areas that may be steeper or shallower than expected, aiding in trend and pattern identification throughout the software.

Example 2 - Contour Lines with Topographies
- Select the Color Icon by the layer you wish to apply the contour upon.
- A new window will appear and choose Contour & Grade to access the menus
- Under Contour Lines, Enable Contour Lines by checking the box and filling in the height offset, major interval, and minor divider.
