This article summarises how to create dig blocks inside a blast block for example if you need to create blocks along final walls which need to be mined with a specific excavator.
Import Bench Plan into current bench
In order to align with the current site bench plan you may need to import the bench plan into your project or your current bench. For this example we are importing the bench plan into the current bench.
Navigate to the bench in question, head to the Import button on the top left and select Import - Into Current Bench - Construction Lines from the menu.
Make sure to delete the current bench plan beforehand as this function does not offer a "Remove current designs" option.
The imported bench plan may look something like this.
Make sure the created polygons are executable in the field. In the example above the line work creates small blast blocks - likely due to inaccuracies during the creation of the bench plan in another software environment.
Use the Move point, add point, and delete point functions (directly above the visualisation window) to clean the bench plan polygons.
Adjust Trim Shots
In this example the bench plan has been designed to the toe of the bench leaving leaving the area closest to the final wall not assigned to any trim shots.
This area needs to be included in the trim shots, but this is also the area that needs to be separated out on the flitches as they are being mined by smaller excavators due to operational procedures on site.
Trim shots 22, 20, 17, 9 will need to be extended to cover the area to the final wall. Use the drawing tool to extend the horizontal lines (see below).
The next two steps will create the result we are after. Create a trim shot, and then create digs that are splitting the trims into a block close to the final wall (for the smaller excavator) and a larger portion for the larger excavator towards the production shot.
In order to achieve this, select the polygon outline of the trim shot and copy it (ctrl + c), as we want to paste it into every flitch. (Polygons on the blast level/ bench level create the same outlines on the flitch levels. If we want to create dig blocks on the flitches that are different from the blast outlines, we need to create them on the flitch levels). Select one flitch after the other for the bench and paste the copied outline (ctrl + v).
The result will be as shown in the picture below - flitch outlines that split the area of the trim into a larger dig close to the production shot and a smaller flitch towards the final design wall.
The final outlines of the trim shots on the bench level can be seen in the image below.
